At some point, if our democratic republic is to be viable at this moment in the United States in 2025, more of us will have to sincerely demonstrate just why the idea of democracy needs to be preserved and is in fact worth strengthening.
I’m not sure this is the case at the moment in the United States, because too many of us, it seems to me, do not believe we have a democracy nor understand what democracy means in concrete terms. Ideally we will not find out after any semblance of a democratic state vanishes.

There are a number of studies that have demonstrated nonviolence protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts, and the tipping point is approximately 3.5 percent of the population actively engaged in some form of protest movements. In the U.S. this would represent around 12 million Americans, out of a total population of some 340 million. Of course it is doable.
