Simulation Reality is a thing actually and worth writing about at some point it seems to me, from a layperson perspective that is. But plenty of actual scientists will tell you that simulation reality is not any sort of thing. That’s because it doesn’t have what actual scientists call a falsifiable hypothesis, which simply means a considered concept that can be disproved if it is actually false. In other words it can’t be right unless it can be proven wrong. Got it?
I guess you could start with thinking about the Matrix series, that iconic franchise starring Keanu Reeves. Welcome to my world, Mr. Anderson.
Will true consciousness ever be simulated? The question becomes is our reality nothing more than a simulation, a representation of sorts. Of course, no one has actually done it, at least most of us think that’s the case. Finally, you’ve got to throw in what’s called the Bayesian probability, which is a way of calculating the likelihood of an event based on evidence and prior beliefs. Stay with me a little longer.
Now the 17th century philosopher and mathematician extraordinaire, Rene Descartes said, I think therefore I am. In other words, according to Descartes, the act of thinking itself proves one’s existence. There, you have it. We’re not living in a simulation. Well, maybe not everyone has it or agrees with it.
But wait. None other than Elon Musk himself, that rich guy with possible severe narcissistic personality disorder, has said that he believes there is a possible possibility, my words not his, that all of us are now living in a simulation. For real!
Musk is the person that has attached himself to Mr. Donald, the cognitively impaired felon, that nearly half of the voting age population think is just fine and dandy to be the next president of the U.S. Oh well. Now the Donald is considering adding Greenland, Panama, possibly Canada and just maybe Mexico to pax Americana.
But perhaps he could first give the United States an actual health care system, health care for Americans that live in the 21st century. Just saying, why not get rid of our cartoon capitalism health scam. Then Musk could fly to Mars, billionaires could continue their search for immortality and Donald could go back to eating hamburgers and French fries and pretend he understands serious issues. Better still, we could maybe put Mr. Donald in cryogenic freezing, purely for research purposes at a later date.
The good news in all of this, however, is that we’re about to be bombarded with the NFL football playoffs and even an NFL farm team game—Ohio State and Notre Dame. HURRAH!
But try as well to remember that southern California is burning. This is called an omen for the rest of us and is probably not a simulation. What will you do when…?
